What other vegetables can be added to this dish?
Use this recipe as a base and adjust the ingredients to your preferences. You can add mushrooms, yellow squash, cauliflower, sugar snap peas, cabbage, cherry tomatoes, celery, etc. If you want to add root vegetables, like potatoes or carrots, keep in mind that they will need more cooking time. Cook them first for 10 minutes, then add chicken and softer veggies.
How to make chicken and vegetables in the air fryer?
- Start by cutting the chicken into the same-size pieces.
- Pour half of the oil over the chicken and sprinkle with half of the seasoning. Toss to coat.
- Chop vegetables and toss with remaining oil and seasoning.
- Combine all ingredients.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees for 3 minutes.
- Arrange all ingredients in the air fryer basket.
- Cook for 5 minutes, shake the basket and cook for 4 to 5 minutes more.
Helpful tips:
- Cut chicken into same-size pieces. This will ensure even cooking.
- Tossing chicken with seasoning separately from vegetables ensures that each piece is seasoned. Veggies have more flavor than chicken.
- Know your appliance. There are so many air fryers on the market, some with dual heating elements. Those won’t require shaking the basket halfway through the cooking cycle. Also, as with traditional ovens, each air fryer is different. Check on the dish a few minutes before the set timer.
- Use different seasoning mix. Cajun, fajita, or even taco works great here!
