Warning: Killer Brownies, this recipe can cause obesity use it with CAUTION. I can still smell the aroma that filled the house every time my mother made this brownies. All of us would fight over who got to lick the bowl and spoon.
This recipe makes one of most delicious brownies you will ever eat. It is so moist and creamy. Try it – you will not go wrong.
Cream Cheese Brownies
1/3 cup Crisco
1 8 ounce package cream cheese — softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
Four 1 oz squares unsweetened chocolate
2/3 cup butter flavored Crisco
2 cups of sugar
1 tsp of vanilla
1 and 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9X13X2 pan with butter flavored Crisco.
CREAM MIXTURE – combine 1/3 cup butter flavored Crisco, cream cheese and vanilla in a small mixing bowl at medium speed with mixer until well blended. beat in 1/2 cup sugar. Add 2 eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each addition then mix in 3 tablespoons of flour. Set aside.
BROWNIE CHOCOLATE MIXTURE – Melt 2/3 cup butter flavor Crisco and chocolate in a large saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat. Stir 2 cups of sugar into melted chocolate mixture in saucepan. Add 4 eggs, one at a time. Stir each egg quickly into hot mixture. Stir in one teaspoon vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir slowly into chocolate mixture.
FINAL STEPS – Spread half the chocolate mixture in baking pan. Drop cheese mixture over surface of chocolate layer. Spread gently to cover. Drop remaining chocolate mixture over cream cheese layer. Spread gently to cover. Swirl both mixtures together using knife. (Nice swirl designs depend on how much you pull the knife through the batter. Don’t overdo.)
Bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Let Cool completely, cut into 2″ squares. Makes about Two Dozen.
