There are no shortages of places to grab a good bite to eat in Morgan County, and one organization has been promoting various restaurants and food-related businesses in the area for years.
The Indiana Foodways Alliance is a nonprofit organization founded to promote the culture of food in Indiana.

The alliance has 21 different culinary trails which celebrate everything from pies to pork tenderloin sandwiches.
Seventeen of those trails include Morgan County businesses
Several local businesses and restaurants in Morgan County participate in at least one of the trails.
Visit Morgan County Executive Director Tosha Daugherty said the Indiana Foodways Alliance helps amplify the county’s message to potential tourists.
“They’re also able to generate more media coverage for the statewide trails than we could ever generate as a single destination,” Daugherty said. “Stories about their trails have been featured in the New York Times, USA Today and more.”
She also noted that Indiana Foodways is partnering with Visit Indiana, the state’s tourism bureau, to promote the Culinary Trails Passport.
The passport, Daugherty noted, “allows visitors to check in on their mobile devices at trail locations throughout the state to earn various prizes.”
One major benefit to participating in a trail is the regional promotion of locally-owned businesses.
“We know from our local economic impact research that food and beverages purchases account for the majority of visitor spending in Morgan County (over 40%), so of course we want to be involved in statewide promotions targeted to foodies who travel,” Daugherty noted.
Below are a list of the trails and Morgan County businesses that participate in the program:
A Cut Above Trail
The “A Cut Above” trail promotes all things meat — from filet mignon, to lamp to duck.
Between the Buns Burger Trail
This trail helps promote one of the nation’s favorite foods — hamburger.

The “Farm to Table Trail” helps publicize local farms and markets for families of all sizes to enjoy.
Here Fishy Fishy Trail
Anyone who likes seafood will enjoy the “Here Fishy Fishy” trail, which includes two stops in Morgan County.
Hoosier BBQ Trail
This trail is for those who enjoy their meats slathered in barbecue sauce or smoked for hours.
Hoosier Brews Trail
If you enjoy locally crafted beer, there’s a trail for that.
