Dining Weeks deals in Baldwinsville: ‘The culinary experience here is really hopping’

Baldwinsville, N. Y. — It may be a relatively small corner of Onondaga County, but the area in and around village of Baldwinsville takes pride in having a fairly big dining scene.

“The culinary experience here is really hopping,” said Jeffrey Rogers, owner of the Angry Garlic restaurant in the village. “It’s not just restaurants, we have some nutrition shops, bakeries and other types of places, too.”

That’s what led Rogers to coordinate the Baldwinsville version of the concept known as “Dining Weeks,” which has been a mid-winter staple in downtown Syracuse for several years.

Baldwinsville Dining Weeks runs from Tuesday, Feb. 16, to Sunday, March 7. It has 19 participating restaurants an shop, some offering a 3 course-meal package for $30 and others creating their own deals. See menus.

(Note: Camillus Dining Weeks is coming up too, from Feb. 22 to March 4. Details on that coming soon.)

This is the third year for Baldwinsville Dining Weeks, and it has the same motivation as the one downtown: To encourage people to patronize food businesses during what it often a slow season.

“We do want to encourage people to come out, dine with us, socialize,” Rogers said.

Of course, this year, that means doing it amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The 19 participating restaurants and shops must adhere to the Covid restrictions. For restaurants, that means no more than 50% capacity, masks for staff and for diners except while they’re seated, tables set at least six feet apart and an 11 p.m. curfew for places serving alcohol.

Most of the deals are offered for both dine-in and carry-out, said Anthony Tringale, of Eat Local NY, who helped promote the event.

These are the 19 participants. They include full service restaurants, pizza shops, diners and delis, bake shops and more:
